I worked at Razorfish

Pros

The best reasons to work for Avenue A | Razorfish are as follows:

1. People. You get to work with seasoned professionals. The diversity in knowledge, skills, backgrounds is welcomed with open arms. The shared passion by everyone draws everyone to collaborate to deliver the value that Clients crave.

2. Projects. The opportunity to work on projects that are cool and highly valued by Clients is temptation too delicious to pass up.

Cons

There aren't really any downsides specific to Avenue A | Razorfish, but to the industry itself. Becoming a member in this industry is not for the faint-hearted:

The industry is volatile (as we are seeing now). You have to have steely nerve to remain focused.
The industry is competitive. You need to strap on and bring your A - game.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

My feedback for Senior Management is that transparency in of itself is not sufficient to earn the trust of the troops. In times of turmoil, setting an example of personal sacrifice will earn the respect and trust of everyone. Actions speak louder than words.

    I worked at Razorfish

    Pros

Being an employee of Microsoft :)

There were some cool projects I worked on.

    Cons

Evaluations/Reviews are not fair. I believe you get a better evaluation of someone when the review is done both ways, not Person1 doing review for Person2 but Person2 not doing review for Person1.

Your manager barely ever talks to you and never meets with you on a regular basis to discuss your performance or goals.

The management needs to be re-org'ed - they have inexperienced guys as managers.

The projects can be managed better - more often than not the requirements are very hazy and lead to lot of confusion while the development is in progress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have your prices match reality. You loose work because you quote SUPER-HIGH to clients and then lay-off employees because of no work!

I have been working at Razorfish

    Pros

The opportunity to work with different technologies and the variety of the work itself keep the job interesting. The chance to work with and learn from very smart and motivated people. A culture that values people on what they actually achieve, rather than how many hours a day they keep a chair warm. Good benefits (including decent vacation allowance). A management structure (at least in the NE) that genuinely seems to listen to peoples opinions and concerns.

    Cons

Some projects require frequent travel and being away from home from the crack of dawn Monday until Friday every week can be overwhelming and disruptive to home life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep rewarding people who deliver
