I have been working at Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad

Pros

Non-union. Very good health care package. Very flexible when a day off is needed/scheduling vacations. An occasional bonus check. 6 paid holidays. Fairly predictable works days as we are only a regional railroad of 315 route miles.

Cons

No time and a half for overtime. All hours are paid in straight time no matter how many hours you work. No paid sick days. No designated home terminal. No mileage pay when traveling to an away terminal. Many routes overgrown with weeds & brush causing poor visibility and having to keep engine windows closed to avoid injury.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Address the issues listed in Cons. The previous management we had (now retired) with railroad experience had the railroad running very well. Current non-railroad experienced management should have picked up where they left off.
