I worked at Red Hat as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Nice campus. In the beginning, you feel like you are at a unique & forward thinking company. Within a few months, you see that this is a mirage

    Cons

Poor pay & benefits, incompetent managers who boarder on being abusive, sales and billing departments doing duplicate work, very political.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your people, especially management, to respect and to treat people with dignity.

I have been working at Red Hat full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Great benefits, great office environment. Very outspoken, opinionated employees. Able to be original. Salary was average.

    Cons

Not a ton of position growth unless someone is fired or you move to an entirely new position. Because of the outspokeness...some comments can be harsh or offensive. Definitely need a thick skin.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open source is a great thing, however everyone needs rules and guidelines. When you make company policies...stick to them....no exceptions.
