Pros

- Flexible schedule; management was willing to work with my school schedule
- Quick money
- No menu test
- Nice co-workers
- Closed early

Cons

- The GM did not communicate with all the restaurant managers aka they were not on the same page
- Poorly run kitchen

    I worked at Red Lobster part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Simple corporate model. Follows labor laws and has a pretty strict corporate policy. The job can be rewarding. Great guests always lead to a great serving experience.

    Cons

    Area dependent, but tends to bring in low income no spending clientele. This can make turning over tables with few problems or a great tip difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Support your crew. They are the backbone of your restaurant. Make policy that helps the pockets of the wait staff and bar and they will bend over backwards to give you what you want.

    Pros

    Caring company that errs on the side of caution when dealing with employee issues. Clearn direction and support.

    Cons

    Budgets have shrunk significantly in this challenging economy negatively impacting the fluidity of the operation on a daily basis. Benefits package reduced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The smallwares budget should be increased to improve operations through put. Labor goals are ambitious and in places where the staff is avg to below avg. The quality of service is negatively impacted. Too focused on profit perhaps and reinvestment in your staff and technology may be required at some point to ensure the longevity of your current success.
