I have been working at Reed Business Information
Pros – Reed has actually been the least stressful publishing house I've worked for. A lot of that has more to do with immediate management than senior management. The group of people I work with get along and actually talk with each other.
Cons – I initially thought when I joined that since there were so many publications at Reed it would be a nice thing to be able to switch when the opportunity came up. But the culture (from high up) really seems to encourage keeping all the groups separate.
Advice to Senior Management – Be straightforward about the sale or non sale of the company. Everyone who has been in publishing has been through at least one sale/acquisition in the past ten years, so even when you avoid telling us what's going on, we know.
