Pros

The only good benefit I seen was they have pretty good benefits and PTO.

Cons

Where do I start? They dont pay well, extremely high turnover. They only care about the senior reps for the main part. Unless you kiss but you wont go far in sales here. Even if you kiss butt it will take years to get promoted unless something just pops up. Total lack of training, even though you are in training class for 2 to 3 weeks. They illegally keep you there thru your lunch on the last day of each month( I'm totally shocked they haven't been sued yet). Dont give a 2 week notice if you try to leave because they will immediately terminate you and then try to get you to write a letter saying you are resigning on that day. Totally shady management on the sales team, alot of favoritism. Managers are only worried about their quota's so if you aren't close at the end of the month they will forget about you and only help the ones that are close. In the process of changing pay structure for all sales so you make less money but work and stress out more. Oh, one more thing. Dont find any really big deals and think they are going to pay you because they will find a way to give them to the senoir reps so they dont have to pay you.

Advice to Management

Quit!!!

    Pros

    Have a unique position in the marketplace and a decent, internet based, portal that is intuitive and easy to use. Provide staff with exceptional benefits as it relates to paid time off, 401 (k) & pension and healthcare.

    Cons

    Management has no clue whatsoever how construction industry functions. They have filled management ranks with info professionals and there are no longer any individuals with construction industry knowledge. In the past 10 years they have jettisoned most of the experienced people as they continue to try and cut their costs. Focus seems to be on operating as cheaply as possible (they've offshored some functions to India) and make their money by becoming the low cost rather than highest quality information provider. By the way you need to get rid of the Reed "values" as they really aren't practiced within the organization.

    Advice to Management

    Bring some industry experts into the organization so your products can be fashioned in a way that provide genuine benefit to people in the industry. You have gone from a company that provided value added data to a raw data aggregator. The problem is that you're still trying to charge the premium price that was once justified by the value added to the data. That value no longer exists.

    Pros

    It's a good launching pad to leave and work anywhere else. Once you've survived a few years at Reed (and RSMeans) most companies love your phone skills.

    Cons

    Management always 2 weeks behind with necessary feedback to employees like quotas and changes. Stunning lack of communication between offices.

    Advice to Management

    Management should be leading the way, not trying to find which paths each employee has had to take to get their job done.
