Pros

Really enjoyed the team I worked with and the departments that I worked with.
Very open and friendly. Peers willing to lend a hand or a smile.
Department heads are approachable.
Great opportunities to learn the applications. Very hands on.

Cons

Management team could be stronger, a lot of turn over in management team.
Uneven distribution of work. No Accountability. Not much room for advancement, especially if pursuing a non-management position.
No work life balance.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand your team's workloads. Define clear responsibilities and hold the team accountable. Listen to your team's suggestions. Provide feedback and help when requested.

I worked at Regional One Health full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Teaching hospital provides for great learning opportunities. Excellent for skills experience. Many units newly remodeled.

    Cons

Poor management that doesn't take patient safety into consideration. Very heavy nurse:patient ratios (1:8). Acuity of patients not considered in staffing. No support from upper management. Unit specific: Verbal and physical harassment from management. Always understaffed. Nurses expected to do jobs of PCA's in addition to their own responsibilities. Poor attendance. Favoritism. Discrimination. Very political.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be aware of patterns in retention and complaints and consider the causes. Increase nurse staffing to ensure patient safety. Enforce a zero tolerance policy on workplace violence and harassment. New CEO and rebranding will do nothing for the company if nurses and other staff continue to be treated with disrespect. Management 101: Motivation and satisfaction fuel a successful organization.

I worked at Regional One Health

    Pros

Opportunities for clinical experience in trauma, critical care and high-risk OB are unparalleled in the Memphis area.

    Cons

Fiscal woes. Highly-politicized. Inept or corrupt management. Memphis continues its general decline into the Mississippi River.
