Pros

Good salary and benefits. Good support with online education, helpful online information and forms.

Cons

Way too much emphasis on productivity. Write all your notes, weekly summaries, discharges and evaluations while with the patient so you can charge them for the time. If you hit a productivity standard (85%) you are challenged to go higher. Productivity = billable time so screenings, meetings, talking with the doctor, and documentation not done in front of the patient is "non-productive." No opportunity for inservices, or other growth during work time because this is "non-productive."

The emphasis on productivity is demoralizing. Listen to your staff.

    Pros

    Good modality training and support. Nice and hard-working co-workers.

    Cons

    Unrealistic and unethical productivity demands. Management expects 85-90% productivity from all therapists (nearly unattainable in the real world of post acute rehab and skilled nursing where schedules are typically impossible to adhere to) and will demand you get it even if it means implying that you fake patient care time and/or your time in the building to achieve it. I would overhear conference calls that our direct manager was listening to and the regional directors would not let up on the productivity demands, like it was life or death for everybody.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Wonderful therapists are being made to walk an ethical tightrope every day. I really hope RehabCare undergoes an in-depth outside audit. Staff and ultimately the patients suffer the consequences of their money-grabbing policies. RehabCare will also suffer if referrals drop!
