    Pros

Good Employee Relations Safety and Equipment Training and Learning/Development Benefits and Incentives

    Cons

It can be difficult to gain a wide range of experience and skills Often criticized for having highly active office politics. Limited Internal Promotion Prospects

    Advice to Management

Layoffs must not be left at the discretion of a department's supervisor/head. The reason being, he/she misuses his/her own judgment for his/her personal interest at the cost of somebody's employment for no legitimate reason.
