I worked at Renaissance Hotels full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Hotel, travel and food discounts, many opportunities to get promoted or to shadow other job areas, limitless education material on hospitality industry (sales, management, food and beverage, etc), paid weekly, everything can be done or updated online, great training programs, very efficient, professional work environment

Cons

Mostly late hours, need to work holidays and weekends, can easily work more than 40 hours a week, deal with many difficult guests, some managers will tend to side with guests more than employees (even if treated unfairly by guest), job will definitely test your patience at times

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management should not expect to be treated as VIPs every time they enter an area, especially when it is clearly swamped. Instead, they should offer a helping hand to get to the guests' needs as quickly as possible. Not everyone can stop what they are doing just to greet upper management, especially when guests are more important.

    Good money for a working student

    Cons

    Traffic can make you late. And there is a lot of times you can not ick them up in a time they expected because we are just plain busy.

    We are the first and last face they see during their stay.

    I have been working at Renaissance Hotels full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Working at a Renaissance you will find many people who are truly passionate about working in the hospitality industry. It isn't just another hotel, and they don't want it to be. On the fundamental level it is a place to stay that is nice but they angle it to be a bit different and hope to intrigue you in to "discovering" more about the city your in. It's a neat concept and they do a good job at marketing it to the whole staff of "ambassadors" to make it truly a lifestyle brand.

    Cons

    Like working at any hotel it has draw backs including hard hours and rude guests. While there are some people who make your day worthwhile it can be draining to appease entitled guests at times.
