Pros

Good money.
Loved the Hotel Manager Joy Harringa.
Good Banquet staff, and Scott is an amazing manager.
Chef Andy is a solid chef.

Cons

Crappy jr. level staff (servers, bartenders, dish washers...etc)
Bad schedule a lot of the time.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get better trained people with good development skills.

    Was provided everything I needed to be successful in my work. Great support from management. Great pay and benefits!

    Cons

    Very Corporate environment makes it uncomfortable for experienced bartenders to upsell.

    Pros

    Good benefits, pay and training. Great location. Free meals.

    Cons

    I worked at Renaissance Chicago Downtown for over one year, in the Valet Department: Employees with seniority were tolerated unethical practices: charge for parking without issuing receipts, choosing own schedule to avoid times of high work load, approaching guests at own discretion and not by arrival order (fancy cars usually got the attention of senior employees). It was definitely not a friendly place for new employees.
    The only times when management tried to be genuinely warm and nice was right before the annual reviews they would get from their staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Lead by example and DO take on simple tasks such as sweeping and parking cars, for it is inspiring and motivating for all others.
    In order for this hotel to be worthy of the name Marriott, all corrupted practices in valet department need to be addressed urgently by upper management.
