I have been working at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

As one would expect at a top engineering school, I've learned a tremendous amount and had the opportunity to work with a lot of very smart people.

Cons

Must pay out of pocket for health insurance. While I have been fortunate, in most cases funding must be renewed each year, leading to uncertainty at times. Conference travel expenses are only supported partially by the school, which means a lot of out of pocket costs for conferences that aren't within driving distance.

I worked at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Prominent, rising engineering school
Management invest a lot of time and money back into the school
Very good technical education that will boost skills in any technical area
    Decent campus

    Cons

Lack of emphasis on social connections
Faculty interaction is limited and outreach is not established

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's good to spend time and money on the technical aspects and building bigger and better facilities, but it's equally important to make sure the students are happy and are being involved in the social interactions that boost leadership skills, and softer skills as well.
