Pros

Employee purchase program, freedom to be out of the store on a daily basis (lots of driving), 1 hour lunches (most times), you meet lots of people and opportunities to make connections outside of work.

Cons

The days are looooong (at least 10 hours each day), your days off are split up, many bugs and nasty situations, the company does not care about your personal life, you are not allowed to work two jobs, delivery expectations are sometime unrealistic, did I mention you have no life outside the workplace?

Advice to Management

Realize that there is more to life than RAC, it's understood that you have to act in a certain way in order to have success within a company, but just know that every employee is not compensated as well as you and there is little motivation for us to want to work hard for the company.

    Pros

Pay and interaction with good customers some freedom

    Cons

Micro managed job threatened every week, employees always complaining about what someone else is or isn't doing, dms think manager is end all be all

    Advice to Management

Support your manager, throw some accountability to assistants and cars not always harping on the manager to do it while they are trying to do the 50 other things they have to do, put managers who care thru the dmdp program so they can control their own destiny and not rely on selfish dms to toy with them on whether or not they may 1 day achieve personal success.

    Pros

-Great overtime hours if single, no kids, no school
-Fun work environment, close knit, 5 employees max
-Learn every and all aspects of business including sales, marketing, telemarketing, cold calling, collection calls, collection letters, repo-ing merchandise, deliveries, cleaning, setting up showroom and basic office work

    Cons

-Not enough employees for an effective business.
-Company cuts corners in order to avoid hiring more staff (can be seen even in corporate level)
-Dirty, gritty work; cleaning rental items and getting them "rent ready" means cleaning out cockroach infested tv's, refrigerators and furniture. (Don't let them fool you, ALL levels of management in the store clean)
-Bad store managers can negatively affect business and work environment (expect to see these people 50+ hours a week)

    Advice to Management

-I experienced an enthusiastic district manager, sometimes goals were unrealistic and pushy but, that is what made him a great boss. I would suggest stressing the importance of a work/life balance in order to not burn employees out.

Bottom line is... this job will be perfect for you if you don't have a degree, relationship, school or children. If not, one year working here will leave you with none of the above (I have seen it first hand)
