Bring in some talent from other sources beside uniform industry and military background.

    Pros

    Struggling to list any. A little less degrading than signing on. If you are on the front line you are probably better off financially in signing on. That's the grim reality of working for Initial Rentokil

    Cons

    Where do I start. Firstly the management structure rewards complete idiots. It seems to get any kind of promotion you must treat fellow employees sorry COLLEGEES lol. with little respect and great contempt. This specifically refers to the front line staff. Who incidentally are the only ones who do a decant days work. You will however meet some good people if you do treat them well.

    The whole operation is floored from the ground up. They pay for CDR's (Service Drivers) especially in LONDON is appalling.Would you be prepared to do a days work from 6am to 3pm for little more than the minimum wage

    The lack of financial reward and poor working conditions often leads to new starters leaving. This in turn breeds poor service as it takes a certain amount of time to learn a route and become proficient.

    Initial then spend more time and money recruiting CDR's for the same to happen. If the money that is spent on constantly recruiting new people was invested in wages, nights out and realistic incentives. The frontline staff would become a stable entity. Promoting great service and moral which in turn would lead to incremental business. Instead of the perpetual self- fulfilling prophecy that is currently adhered to.

    The sales staff are completely in competent and often led by a sales manager who is equally as incompetent. Who incidentally does not sell themselves but is very good at giving outdated sarcastic advise.

    If you are middle aged and have a screw loose you should apply you will fit right in. They might even give you the sales managers job. Stranger things have happened.

    Branch managers and regional directors . You cant seriously buy into the nonsense they is handed down to you. Grow a pair and stand up for what you believe in. We all want an easy life but dealing with the same problems of staffing and service must get to you?

    Pros

    RI has loyal employees, good customer base, international presence and some very profitable businesses. Business is route-based business, rather complex and challenging,

    Cons

    After a terrible time with the Unilever crew (CEO, chairman, CIO, Divisional mngmnt, corporate staff) who all have been fired after 4 years of total mismanagement (AB, PS, XBB) now with the new CEO (AR) all the pest managers get in charge of the total group. This is a mistake. The pest guys are profit driven (good) but lack management sills. They are basic, rude, simple guys bringing a lot of office politics and killing other parts of the business (textiles, washroom, plants). Before you join this company on a management level please talk to insiders ! It might save you a lot of trouble. Personnel turnover is un-be-lievable high (some places >30% / yr)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Resign immediately. Please hire new management who have experience in running a down-to-earth, profitable service business.
