Pros

Product Lines manufacturers are strong.

Cons

Owners are not working together. One owner talks down to the employees and offers no real sense of professionalism or knowledge of sales. Rely too heavy on consultants and forget about running their business. Jan San owner is very uneducated in sales and customer service.

Advice to Management

Run your business as a small family business it is and not try to be a fortune 500 comapny with 10 employees. Get out of the conference room and into the streets selling. Other brokers do a far better job marketing their products.

    Pros

Several outside sales team members are talented and a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

    - Extremely high turn over (every six months) for business with less than 15 employees, zero opportunity for advancement
    - Owners are never on the same page, which causes problems amongst staff regularly
    - "Open & Honest" environment promoted by owners and staff, but then it is used against employees to pickup slack for incompetent owner, sales & inside staff members or uses it to diminish workload & fire people
    - Owner conduct inappropriate relationships with employees
    - Owner allows family members incompetence and manipulative ways to create chaos inside the office and a horrible work environment, creating extreme double standards and unreliable expectations on others to pick up the slack
    - Owners do not manage their business professionally, ask illegal questions in interviews and allow sexual & behavioral misconduct from employees
    - Promises are never kept and major business decisions are allowed to be made by an all male leadership team that are barely capable of doing their own job or are afraid to go against owners
    - Owners sees a business consultant, but lack the ability to make decisions and stick to them, policies change every 3-6 months
    - If under the age of forty or a women owners treat with no respect
    - Slim chance of finding ANY past employee from this company that has any respect for the owners or a positive attitude towards the company

    Advice to Management

Evaluate the consistent pattern of talent that turn over voluntarily or that you fire because they are a threat or speak the truth. Owners should remove themselves from managing day-to-day business operations or even pay their own utility bills, as they have been proven incompetent time and time again in that area. Stick to focusing their efforts on sales, or become silent partners with those who have the capabilities to run a respectful and progressive business. It is 2015, not the era of Mad Men. Just because you are male, over the age of 50/60 and were handed a business from a family member doesn't mean you deserve it or have the ability to run it. Reflect on every former employee for the last fifteen years and see what percentage are on good terms with your company, that might bring a bit of reality to the real issue... which will point back to you as the owners.

  2. Owners are unprofessional with no clue on how to run a business.

    Pros

Great product lines from outstanding companies

    Cons

JanSan owner has no clue how to sell. Replies too much on over priced consultants. Current sales leaders are riding off strong distributors for their growth numbers. Owners do not respect each other and it shows. JanSan owner needs to get out in the field and work. You are a small family company trying to look big. Learn about sales and marketing and how to run a business. It not all found in a book.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to work with people and sell. You have lost many great sales people to your micro managing and leadership. You are scared of your distributors and they run you like a puppet. Learn to support your employees and not throw them to the wolves to cover your short comings.
