Pros

Freedom to manage your own day. Great place to learn about wine and the industry as a whole. Pay can be great during the holiday season.

Cons

No car allowance, no expense account, this is 100% commission position, so if sales are slow there is no base pay to back you up. Once you reach a high amount of commission dollars, the company will cut your commission so you do not make more than managers.

Advice to Management

Pay sales representatives what they sign up for, and not cut there pay when they do well. Hire competent merchandisers, and spend more time talking to buyers. Stop cutting commissions.

    Pros

    Fun trips with suppliers.
You can average 20 hrs/week if you know how to work the system. This can be due to incompetent upper mgmt, and being smarter than them, of course.

    Cons

Don't get sick. I was hospitalized and when I was able to go back to work HR told me my job wasn't available for me anymore. So get long term disability!
Pay is not enough for what they expect of you.
Social life is work, and that's not a good thing.
My upper management was uneducated, so they don't really value college degrees.
They will call you even when you're on vacation!
No life during OND, so don't even ask for a day off.
No reimbursement/allowance for gas or any other expenses.
Management made you feel as if this was the only job you could ever have. Economy was suffering and they took advantage of that by not giving raises.

    Advice to Management

Any advice I'd give is sure to fall on deaf ears.

    Pros

They distribute some on the finest brands in the Alcohol Beverage industry. Companies like Pernod-Ricard, Brown-Forman, Bacardi, Sazerac, and William Grant to name a few.

    Cons

Over the last few years they have laid-off, run off, or gotten rid of many of their veteran players, replacing them with inexperienced order takers.

    Advice to Management

Use you veterans for their ideas and experience, they can deliver much better results than they get credit for.
