- Theoretically, you are doing a good deed by helping needy people find jobs.
- Paid holidays
- Pay is still low considering the industry you're in, but more than the same position at other companies in the area.

But these come with a Catch-22...

- The Employment Specialist position has the highest turnover in the company, and new specialists often have to "clean up the mess" on the caseloads from the past specialists.
- Don't expect raises or growth.
- Not uncommon for managers to hand off more duties to a particular specialist because another specialist is slacking off, rather than addressing the slackers.
- Benefits are a joke. The cheapest health insurance option they offered me would have been nearly $200/mo and had a $3,000 deductible on the policy. Ridiculous. The rates keep jumping higher each year. This is why the salary is slightly higher and there are paid holidays. But those still don't make up for the cost of health insurance.
- It is impossible to actually help clients and get work done when auditors and managers are hounding you on every little detail, piling too much work on you (much of which is irrelevant and simply serves to help them with their own numbers), all while having to meet unrealistic quotas and deadlines
- If you're a bleeding heart interested in helping people in nonprofit, you won't be one after working here. 75% of the clients are just deadbeats who want to ride the system and take as many funds as they can get from the program and NEVER get a job. In the end, the joke's on Rescare. Sadly, it's the hard-working people who really need help that end up not getting it because they don't fit one little requirement or qualification.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a clue. This isn't helping people be productive and find jobs. It's a welfare office.
