Research in Motion – “Nice place to work”
Pros
It is a nice friendly place to work. My colleagues were professional and very helpful. The work is interesting and you have an opportunity to make a significant impact. Cross Team idea exchange is encouraged and I even got to shift teams into something that I was far more interested in. Overall a major thumbs up. Also work life balance is respected .
Cons
RIM at South Florida was expanding very fast when I was down there, and there wasnt enough office space to seat all the new hires. They are expanding to a new building but a more planned expansion would be better. Is too much Canada centric, key projects end up in Waterloo, and most of the best work is only done there.
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing that I can really voice concern about. Though more transparency and a better communication of key company goals would help engineers keep their goals inline with that of the senior management.
