Pros

The product is exceptional. The discount is great.

Cons

People get promoted only when they "play the game" and they push exceptional leaders, who challenge ways of thinking, out of the business.
Senior leaders are corrupt (and any that aren't have left the company i.e. the former CFO).
Senior leaders care only about their own careers/income and profit margins.

Advice to Management

It isn't worth sharing advice because when the CEO is so corrupt, nothing will ever change.

If I had a dime for everytime I heard "they just aren't the right person" I would be able to buy the company.

    Pros

A very cool non-traditional approach to retail. My boss as well as the other DMs in the region were truly inspiring!!!

    Cons

Senior management is too busy playing politics and favorites to really understand what is happening in stores and really doesnt care as long as the sales are good.

    Advice to Management

This is what gives retail a bad name, and destroys morale and trust for anyone that is no longer considered the "right person" Tossing people out the door becasue they are no longer relevant in one persons opinion is not the way to treat human beings.

    Pros

40% employee discount, though most employees couldn't afford the stuff anyway.
    Beautiful work environment

    Cons

Absurd amount of corporate motivational brainwashing
    No guaranteed amount of hours
    Bullying from management

    Advice to Management

You are selling furniture. There are plenty of positive sweeping statements you can make about the impact of good design on people's home lives, but you aren't "changing the world" by selling mid-quality furniture made in China, and your employees of the month aren't "Real Heroes." Firemen are real heroes. Employees of the month are employees of the month. Calling store managers "gallery leaders" doesn't change the way they bully sales staff and micromanage. Make real changes, not just semantic ones. There is a reason this company has such absurdly high turnover.
