Results Weight Loss – “disappointing”
Pros
Clients and co workers at center level
Cons
Very low pay for managers and inconsistant as well - from one manager to another. Upper management were always changing policies and procedures, lack of consistancy on what expectations were, disregard for any type of family life - no work life balance. I witnessed emplyoees being asked to do things on the fly (because of lack of preparation and communication) that would negatively impact their family life. No real technology to monitor clients, inventory, money, etc. Administratively was consistant with 20 years ago. No computers no pos no way to track clients other than relying on what someone is writing in a file.
High pressure sales and one week you could have outstanding sales, miss one and be treated as a failure. Very stressful for the sales person to 'get the sale'. no real understanding among upper management that sales in any industry is a rollercoaster and is not consistant one week to the next. Very hard to make budget with no traffic coming in the door.
The only consistincy about results seems to be the fact they are always running at a loss and on the verge of bankruptcy, has been taken over/ bought out several times. Very stressful to know if 3-6 down the road you will have a job.
Also - loved to fire long term employees for no real justifiable reason. Management was great at building you up one day and firing you the next. I would guess that most employees are under 1 year senority and have zero real training in any type of related industry. They culture was to not hire anyone with any real knowledge of nutrition. Most long term employees with any knowledge or experience are gone, or on their way out.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay center managers competive wages for the responsibliy assumed. Close non performing centers and use those monies to refresh older centers. Stop micro managing. Hire all management (assistant and above) that have experience in leadership, fiscal accountablity, and customer service/sales and pay based on experience. Nurtition is also a key componant in background, as well as matching personality to this type of industry.
