I worked at Risk Management Solutions full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Great people, and despite other reviewers bad experience with middle management, I had wonderful managers.

The company does interesting work and you get to work with a variety of complex and interesting models.

Managers sincerely work to advance your career interests and give you work in your job to match your skills and goals

Cons

In the Hoboken office there is minimal exposure to model development, so your opportunities to interact with those developing the models is limited, and so if you are inclined towards the technical aspect of the models you have to be in the California office.

Client development is a tedious job in which you are discouraged from looking into questions about model performance deeply in favor of answering a volume of questions.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

provide greater opportunities for the Hoboken office to interact with Model Development and the more technical Science/Model aspect of the company

I have been working at Risk Management Solutions full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people you work with directly are mostly OK and intelligent. You will not have to wait long to find a person looking for someone to cry with over how terrible this company is, so at least you have a person to commiserate with you

    Cons

The management is just terrible. I have worked with other companies in the past and the level of back-fighting, lies, and total disregard for progress or innovation is staggering [management is afraid of new technology, it would mean exposing that they only know about 3 things anymore]. Much of the senior management has been around since the beginning of the company, some of them were even part of the current CEOs wedding. Those that have this relationship with the CEO constantly screw up and never get any repercussions. Read the rest of these reviews on here and don't let people tell you that Glassdoor is only for people who are disgruntled and that these reviews should be ignored. Look at other companies and see their positive reviews, see that the negative reviews MUST be heeded. I know many people who started at this company recently who are quitting soon, I know many who have been at this company for many years who are quitting. But none of the people who are causing the problem are quitting, this just means you will be surrounded with a higher concentration of idiots.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The CEO has to go, he has been constantly failing his overall attrition goals, and it must be known that he will not fire his friends in management that are causing the problems. Bring in a new CEO and the current senior management would not last 1 month.

I worked at Risk Management Solutions full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

flexibility - great work life balance and great benefits
    learning opportunities

    Cons

The flip side of flexibility - breeds a culture of sloth as too much time on hands
The flip side of learning opportunities - you get "all the work" as others hand off their work to you
    Poor management
    Peer politics and nepotism
There is targeting involved whereby a main group would target individuals (usually the one who was most productive). This occurs on both the networking and system team.
Nevertheless, the teams are dysfunctional due to nepotism from both the top down and bottom up. This appears to only affect Newark HQ as I reported this to upper management but received lip service.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build a new IT team on both networking and system side. Once a pre-existing culture exist, it is difficult to change. Hire a new IT staff. Any new current IT staff of 2 years can be considered to be retained.
