Pros

Salary and benefits, good people to work with, good development programs, new stores are beautiful, senior managers are knowledgable and supportive

Uncertainty of company's future, long hours, large territories, interaction between departments. The real estate deals are too far reaching making operating profit a challenge

It's alright, but not somewhere you want to work at too long.

I worked at Rite Aid full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The co-workers and store management were the best. There was always something to do, and was a very busy store, so time went by pretty fast. Management will work with you on your schedule most of the time. Got to know some of the regular customers. Also the people in the pharmacy were terrific, and would go above and beyond. Full time has one week payed vacation a year, and builds on that for the amount of time you were there. For retail that's okay.

    Cons

Crazy hours. It was a 24 hour store, and unfortunately I was on second shift, so there wasn't much time for life outside of work. Also if someone called out for overnight shift, a daytime person would have to cover it from 10pm-8am. Everybody had to take turns working holidays, so if you had Christmas off one year, you would have to work it the next year etc. For the amount of work and time you put into the place, the pay is horrible! You get a 16 cent raise every year you've been there. And they think that's doing you a favor. It's a joke. I never had the benefits, but I heard they aren't too good. Customers can get nasty, but that's with all retail. Shoplifting was a problem, only after 2 years did they get a security guard.
