I have been working at Riverbed Technology full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Riverbed has great people. Management is supportive and when I need help with an issue I get a team of people willing to assist. The pay benefits and insurance are very generous and I personally hope to work at Riverbed until I retire.

Cons

Honestly, for the position I am in, I cannot think of anything negative to say. This company has been so good to me.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the great work.

I have been working at Riverbed Technology full-time

    Pros

    - Good basic salary compared to other similar jobs in the market
    - no requirements for extended hours or overtime
    - Great team of people

    Cons

    - no incentives to over-perform
    - Annual reviews have no reflection on your performance for the past year.
    - zero incentives to work weekends and public holidays to cover illness, shortages or shifts.
    - Low yearly bonus -> RSU's which vest over 4 years but the actual amount of RSU's awarded equate to a extremely small percentage bonus compared to year base salary.
    - Lower level management have no idea how to actually manage, support and develop their staff
    - Management perform no consultation and discussion with engineers in basic team related decisions.
    - Senior management and directors have a delusional view of running a support organization with no structure in terms of L2 and L3 support staff. All Escalation Engineers perform a L2 and L3 function in a flat structure.
    - Politics seems to be the only method to be promoted rather then hard work and performing above and beyond.
    - No improvement in basic pay or conditions when promoted to Senior Escalation Engineer vs a regular Escalation Engineer

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Re-consider the support structure
    - Invest more time in training and career deployment
    - Backup and support Escalation Engineer's when customers are rude/aggressive/angry
    - Develop a better bonus scheme for support
    - Treat Escalation Engineer's with more respect

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Riverbed Technology full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Dynamic company with new perspectives at all time, and embraces the philosophy of happy customers being a win to win to everyone.

    Cons

To much stress on top of the escalation engineers, better organization and tuning needed to make the work more enjoyable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lack of smiles, we should have more company activities
