    Pros

Pros – > If you're technically limited and enjoy life avoiding any technical challenges and want a good income this is the role.

    Cons

    Cons – >
If you are ambition and enjoy true technical challenges, this is definitely not the role.
The biggest con is that senior management has dictated emphasing to customers a 'great' support organization exists by recruiting highly skilled engineers. However, this has been subsequently more and more difficult to do as retention of these engineers is low once they have figured out the main company objective - " pure media hype " at their expense, which beggers belief.
The good engineers are 'de-skilled', eventually demotivated and the culprits are senior management who shamelessly run a facade to the outside world that this is one big happy family with a great highly trained engineers, this is far from the truth.
Beware, Riverbed retain employees by paying just above the market pay rates, initially focussing on accredited engineers (CCIE, MCSE and so forth), but know this, the engineer's skills are not levied as level 1/2 issues are the main. This remuneration package initially looks great to the uninitiated, but in the world of Riverbed support this is really pittance for all the damage it does to your skills, morale and character.
The savvy, talented engineers have left, those who are approached have rejected the roles, subsequently the organization is now gradually being filled with management minions who tend to display the obsequiousness foibles that put them in good light, diverting attention away from their severe technical limitations.

At your peril, think twice before entering this company support role, it is a thankless, dead end job, if you want to end your career, this is the place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wise up and start to think about the team that you supposedly manage.

    Doesn't Recommend
