I have been working at Riverside Community Care full-time

Pros

kindhearted coworkers and supervisors, flexible hours, ability to do a decent amount of work from home or on the road, clients want and appreciate your help, you can really make a difference in people's lives, unlike many Bachelor's-level jobs in mental health you will likely feel like you have dignity and receive respect, if you are in an unsafe situation you can leave (unlike in residential programs or special ed. schools), you will never have to restrain anyone

Cons

little to no opportunity for advancement, limited tuition reimbursement (you may not care about that), lots of driving, no funds for activities or supplies for sessions so if you want to do anything with clients it comes out of your own pocket

I worked at Riverside Community Care

    Pros

Helping people with mental health in the community who are in need of the services. Worker's hearts are generally in the right place.

    Cons

Very poor management teams, everyone appears to be micromanaged, hierarchy prevents workers from voicing concerns and prevents any action being taken against middle managers who misbehave. Poor performance review standards and little transparency in management decisions. Pay is on average 10-25% less for the same jobs elsewhere. Workers have little respect for management (no wonder why!). Company has (and continues) to gobble up many local community mental health non-profits in order to cut costs further and destroy job opportunities at other companies (who treat their employees more fairly).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop micromanaging, listen to ALL employees regardless of position and location on hierarchy. Provide mandatory constructive and only professional feedback. Be more consistent in applying your policies and allow for employee feedback at any level not only for your immediate supervisor.
