I worked at Rock-Tenn

Pros

Solid workforce was its best attribute. All the worker bees tried hard and gave it their all, even if the direction given was not the best.

Cons

Some executives were much better than others. Had a 'good ol' boy' network at the top...just rotating jobs every few years.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Retire those who need to be retired and bring in some new blood, or better yet, promote those who deserve it and are already doing all the work.

I have been working at Rock-Tenn

    Pros

Large company with growth on its mind and can be a very exciting environment to be in. Lot of opportunities for the right circles.

    Cons

Like many other companies it seems you have to know someone to progress and the bean counters have a strangle hold on budgets that voids any chance of training for a lot of departments.
Not consistent with internal job postings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop consistent policies and enforcement routines to keep any essence of irregularities in job placements to a minimum. Maybe outside third parties can be used.
