Job satisfaction varies widely depending on department and project

Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsThere is a good variety of work and the work/life balance is OK on most projects. There is about a 50/50 split on defense/commercial work which helps the overall stability of the company

ConsThe first and second level of engineering managers tend to be people who weren't ever good with the technical aspects of their job and so they moved into management. The Human Resources department exists only to punish employees who annoy their pointy-haired bosses (think "Catbert").

Advice to Senior ManagementHelp young engineers find a job that aligns with what motivates them. The current practice of punishing good people who are in simply in poorly suited jobs hurts the overall company.
