I worked at Rockwell Collins full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Better than average benefits, reasonably well run and maintained infrastructure.

Cons

Very narrow product line, simply cannot compete in the market place. Clay Jones acquires and closes small operations to maintain the look of profitability. Most in management were promoted because they have been there; some cannot even write a straight sentence without grammatical errors. This is a farm version of the old boy network. If you reload spent shells on your off days, come soon.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell the company, profit the stock holders.

I have been working at Rockwell Collins full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Quiet safe area for raising children.

    Cons

Not much opportunity for job growth. Older management has not concept of work life balance. Excessive bureaucracy, red tape, and an engineering process almost completely delegated to engineering groups from finance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a concerted effort to streamline processes. Allow use of modern software engineering processes. Don't force engineers back into the same role for project after project. This leaves them with a lot of resentment and feeling that they are trapped with no way out.
