Former Employee - Anonymous Employee  in  Gary, IN
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Gary, IN

Pros

a stepping stone, a means of experience only, the only thing thats half way decent about this place is the schedule for the maintenance mechanics. 8on, 6off

Cons

this is a non union shop that treats is mechanics as a disposable item. mechanics have not received a raise in over two years, and there is nothing they can do about it but quit. employees are promised things that they never receive, i.e; raises, shop equipment, shop tools.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

if you would understand that to keep an employee you need to pay them to scale of the cost of living at least, and by keeping a employee long term they gain valuable experience with the equipment of the company, with experience comes efficiency and the skill to repair your units in a timely manner and right the first time, there by keeping repair cost down and a overall more profitable company. however if you lie to employees about raises..or just not giving raises, you create disgruntled employees that do not care about you, the equipment, or the company they work for. creating repairs costs to skyrocket..

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in De Pere, WI

    Pros

Freedom in how you do your work. Overall very flexible about working from home if need be.

    Cons

Lots of wasted time in meetings that are largely unnecessary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This doesn't apply to all management but some managers need to make sure they treat everyone fairly. There are tons of pointless things (travel, long meetings) that could be cut to save money but no one seems to notice.

Current Employee - Driver  in  Ellenwood, GA
Current Employee - Driver in Ellenwood, GA

    Pros

I am off every other week. This is the hometime plus fleet, and they have to get me home so that my partner can take the truck.

    Cons

Bonuses/ Raises are unattainable on the hometime plus fleet. The performance goals are set at a level that is never reached due to the low volume of freight and the practice of constantly hiring new drivers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I guess it's a business model that works, but if there is not enough business to allow current drivers to meet your mileage goals then hiring more drivers is just insulting and revealing.
