Current Employee - Multi Product Loyalty in Kitchener, ON (Canada)

I have been working at Rogers Communications full-time for more than a year

Pros

Great Pay, Lots of incentives, Commissions, Lots of performance reviews, Lost of Opportunity to advance in the company

Cons

Management is very clicy at the Kitchener Location, The Company is less employee minded and more business minded since changes in Management, Job has become more about sticking it to the customer

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management teams in Kitchener need to be reviewed by the employees they are working for. By doing so, the company will be able to determine areas of improvement for Management. My manager didn't know how to use the systems after everything changed to CRM and she did not understand many of the issues that were brought to her attention which resulted in lack of confidence and employees speaking to other managers for assistance.

    I worked at Rogers Communications

    Pros

Loved the people I worked with. Good vacation and leave policies

    Cons

Management is inept. Size of company has even those slightly higher than you completely completely disconnected from the realities of the front line employee

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn about what your employees are facing in terms of challenges. Spend more time on the ground with them instead of issuing edicts from up top without consideration for those employees.

Sad decline as an IT employer of choice in the last 18 months.

I worked at Rogers Communications full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great people on the floor. Some long standing leaders finally moved out to open up opportunities. Facilities. Discounts.

    Cons

Most recent 12 months has seen exodus of some exceptional IT leaders who made a difference. New ITS development executives with a shoot from the hip approach to the issue of the day. No added value; poor people skills and a fear based blame culture has disengaged development staff. Serious decline in confidence, and a poor environment. Sad to see the creativity of the past gone. Too many 'general/program' managers with little technical skill leading major technology initiatives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

to the CEO: It is obvious where the ITS Development challenges start from. Clear out the imports; re-establish Rogers Canadian values; Reduce the tenured leaders who have no real deliverables.
