Pros

Not a ton of oversight because everyone is so busy, which really give you the opportunity to own your work, build client relationships, and present your ideas.

Cons

Long hours
Not enough help, thin teams
Difficult process to get promoted
Hell bent on hitting extremely high profit margins

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote employees who deserve to be promoted, stop looking at the bottom line

    Pros

If you have the right manager or counselor, you can get on some good projects. They try to promote a fun environment.

Some teams are less organized than others. You might end up working late nights or weekends for clients or pitches.

Sinking ship with leadership vacuum, cronyism, no vision or strategy and no work/life balance.

Former Employee - Executive  in  Cleveland, OH
Former Employee - Executive in Cleveland, OH

    Pros

There are still some very hardworking and very talented people at Rosetta, who have an opportunity to work on some great client accounts, in spite of the overall questionable quality of the company's product, the mass exodus of 20+ partners and many, many talented team members over the last year-plus.

Salary is so-so, probably in line with some other, smaller agencies, but is not competitive with other larger agencies, even those that are sister companies under Publicis.

Schedules are very flexible, and time off is generous, if you every really get to truly take that time off. Calls and emails are expected while on vacation, and weekend conference calls and work are considered the norm.

    Cons

No work life balance. Terrible "leadership" with many partners and managing partners "coasting" until they find something better. Unstable financial situation (e.g., freezing promotions, bonuses and salary increases for the first half of 2013). Cronyism, favoritism, and egocentric decisions in the promotion and review process.

Hiring and firing decisions are often based on looks rather than capabilities, and watch out if you're near or over 40 and don't fit the "culture" at Rosetta.

The model is to hire very young, smart and hard working college kids, work them until they're burned out, or promote them before they're ready. There are many "subject matter experts" in the company who only have a year or two of experience and are touted as "thought leaders," but have huge gaps in knowledge and capabilities.

Since the CEO has basically abdicated leadership to two "joint" leaders, the company operates as separate fiefdoms under this bi-coastal leadership. The culture and operations of the fomer-Level Studios is still very much a separate company, even though Rosetta makes weak attempts to integrate. There is a cultural and operational barrier between regional offices, with tension and outright derision between offices in Cleveland, the east coast and west coast.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of your current "leadership" team, and bring in some people who can make decisions, recognize real talent and capabilities rather than self-promoting sycophants, and provide a real go-to-market strategy, rather than vaporware riddled with buzzwords.
