I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (less than an year)

Pros

Plenty of fun, most employees are happy there and those that aren't can except their problems addressed promptly, even though I'm part time there are plenty of people who call in so I get good hours, generous discount, I am generally not ashamed of what we sell - I would buy it

Cons

A few lazy supervisors, customers can be frustrating and very rude, cleaning up the store can be insane and it gets very messy, customers love to steal and can't be trusted, customers are very irresponsible about their kids snd let them run all over messing the store up

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep an eye on those in management positions, not just those in entry level spots, have associates clean bathroom instead of cleaning crew once a day-it gets filthy

I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Tons of advancement opportunity.
    Wonderful management.
    Amazing store programs and policies.
They care about their employees. Corporate included, which is rare.
$50 bonus for Employee of the Month
Open communication between associates and managers.
    Flexible with scheduling.
    Recognize hard work.
They care about and appreciate the customers.
20% discount PLUS three times a year the company gives a "double discount" week in which employees get 40% off everything! It's amazing!
Percentage off of Ross stock which is sky-rocketing.

I had no previous supervisor experience but was still promoted in only 2 months with the company. They really do reward hard work and recognize it, regardless of experience. I could talk to management about not only work related issues, but also about personal things and they cared and did whatever they could to help.

    Cons

Store hours are long. Open until 10 on weekdays, 10:30 Friday and Saturday, and 9:30 on Sundays.
Start at minimum wage, usually no matter what your experience.

    Pros

very family oriented, understand the baby/family bonding, easy work sch. nothing crazy like high tech companies, very stable, generous bonus plan for managers and above

    Cons

see the off-price attitude in the company technology and processes, many manual work-around, still in old system of operation, things change in slow pace
