I have been working at Ross Stores part-time for less than a year

Pros

Learning opportunities
Recognition of hard work [TRUE Cards]
Reasonable breaks
Customer service experience
People skills improvement
Experience in multiple areas
Teaches discipline, structure and time management.

Cons

Little organization
Poor management
Part time hours cannot exceed 25/week
Constant theft
Disrespectful customers (more so than other stores)
Little guidance/training
Required sense of urgency
Picking up after dirty/messy customers
TOO MANY RETURNS
Excessive hard tags
Long shifts
Everyone wants a discount...at an already discounted store.
Slow coworkers

Get a more organized system for assignments and separating lines at cashiers.

    Corporate ways are detailed and customer focused.

    Cons

    Doesn't follow it policies with customers and allows customers too munipulate return policy which confuses Ross staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    View your store managers more closely. Current store manager is good at passing the buck and eliminating any chance for competent Assistant stores from getting promotions.

    I worked at Ross Stores full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    You will learn a varied range of skills. You are hourly paid so any overtime is compensated.

    Cons

    You will work at least 45-50 hrs per week. You will have to work all jobs from the cashier to the fitting room. You will not be paid appropriately for all the tasks you accomplish each day. They have a high management turnover rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You need to re-evaluate how you structure your payroll allocations. There is no reason for store management to work cashier shifts because we do not have the payroll.
