I worked at Roswell Park Cancer Institute full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

state of the art facility

Cons

back stabbing is very common; lack of interest is guaranteed; lifetime leeching from NIH grants is the modus operendi; it would be a great place if you get rid of the ones that do nothing all day after day and are protected by their superiors

Advice to ManagementAdvice

trim the fat

Doesn't Recommend
Neutral Outlook
Disapproves of CEO

Not a great place to work

I have been working at Roswell Park Cancer Institute

    Pros

It is one of the few research institutions in Buffalo, the facilities are new, the researchers are genuinely interested in helping each other out (not the PIs, but the lab personnel)

    Cons

The politics - it has been described as "indentured servitude". Management seems not able to rectify situations between PIs and their lab employees, and instead shuffles everyone around until there is a good fit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The research staff - the ones actually doing the work, not the PIs need to be treated with more respect and get more support from management in cases where there is a dispute between PIs and their lab personnel.
