I worked at Roswell Park Cancer Institute

    Pros

It is the premier cancer center in western New York. the work culture is good and not very stressful. the facilities are new and there is an atmosphere of collaboration promotion. there is a lot of patients and there is a concept to translate bench to bedside. The clinicians are very willing to interact with the PIs for developing new therapies to benefit patients. Buffalo is good city to live with good schools and lots of things to do

    Cons

There is air of relaxation amongst the PIs. They are very comfortable, sometime too comfortable. The growth within the organization is minimal but people within the organization get promoted over newer hires. Leadership could be better when hiring new PIs. Training methods are outdated and not challenging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some better talent for the departments. Training needs to be improved for new students.
