Ruby Tuesday – “Restaurant chain dedicated to promoting hard working individuals into management from within.

Ruby Tuesday Manager in Pittsburgh, PA:   (Past Employee - 2006)

Pros

Back when I worked for the company, RTI was committed to improving its performance through the training and development of it staff, as well as through the implementation of new programs to drive sales. It really seemed to me that those employees that were willing to put in the hard work and long hours could make a career for themselves there, even if they lacked advanced education. RTI was dedicated to promoting from within.

Cons

The hours worked are too long. You have to work a lot of nights, weekends and holidays. This is not atypical for the industry. When I left the company, it seemed like they were growing too rapidly. There were too many managers out there that didn't know what they were doing.

Advice to Senior Management

Make sure that you're only promoting people into management that can handle the rigors and stresses of the job. This may mean that the company should expand less, but it is better to have fewer, quality restaurants supporting the brand than a larger number of weak performers.
