Ruby Tuesday – “Ruby Tuesday: on the whole...average...”
Pros
Quick and easy interview, no personality test required, above minimum wage pay with tips, Supportive lower management and coworkers. Health plan enrollment available every November. Overtime and Holiday compensation available.
Cons
Erratic and irregular schedule, ranging from 30 to over 48 hours a week, initial benefits and discounts reduced significant over the 7 month term of employment. Upper management was singularly profit oriented and completely unconcerned with employee satisfaction or fair table distribution. No incentive was given to perform better than the bare minimum. There was no chance for a raise or added benefits. Priority was given to how cheap your labor was over actual skill or ability. At one point the management actually asked the servers to tend the salad bar, which is a completely separate position that usually pays a higher hourly wage, in addition to waiting tables without any compensation for lost tips or additional pay.
Advice to Senior Management
Show greater respect and value your employees. Listen and address concerns with an open ear, especially when the opinion is shared by more than one person. I understand that corporate changes can't be helped by the local management, but the lack of advancement opportunities and the unprofessional disrespect we were shown by the corporation as a whole was unacceptable.
