I worked at SABMiller

Pros

Other than the free beer - A lot of good people work in the field making the numbers everyday. They know how to market their product to their audience.

Cons

Planning, planning, planning - This took several months and they kept changing the process every year! Way too many consultants selling them on new ways to plan!

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Selling beer is local - trust your local marketing and sales teams to meet the goals that you give to them!

I worked at SABMiller full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great people, great brands! A very passionate, competitive and dynamic industry! Great Marketing and Commercial process are in place and always updated, so you'll always learning! Not boring!

    Cons

Few opportunities for growth, or a slow career development. Sometimes Politics interfere in the sustainable growth of the company and the good people.

Work life balance not so balanced!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to your talent, get to know the people that really contributes to the business, understand their development needs.

Also be careful of Management focus on trying to grow the corporate ladder who pushes for short term results and not a sustainable growth for years to come.

I have been working at SABMiller

    Pros

As tough as an FMCG environment is, and coming from other Beer companies and knowing the industry quite well, it does feel as a much more Human environment. Open and friendly. Good work life balance and no Micromang

    Cons

Still feel like a very Regional and Local approach, not a bad thing, but can be a handicap when trying to aling with Global templates... still this will change, globalization is in the air.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better and more direct communication, and deeper understanding of who to talk to when sorting things while globalizing.
