I worked at SAGE Publications full-time

    Pros

-real commitment to work-life balance and entirely reasonable hours
-interesting work depending on your supervisor, and lots of opportunity to take on new responsibility

    Cons

-management style (learning on the fly) not particularly helpful for new employees without prior publishing experience
    -need more hands-on approach
-communication between superiors and lower-level employees not strong

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-take a more pro-active approach to mentoring
-give employees more responsibility, but at a steadier pace
    -clarify promotion opportunities and timetable

I have been working at SAGE Publications full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

As a privately held, family-owned company, SAGE believes in taking care of their employees where it counts. They are dealing with the struggles of being a publisher in a digital world and keeping up with the best.

    Cons

Because we are smaller in comparison, authors and editors can sometimes believe bigger is better
