Growth and development opportunities in your field

Cons

Overseas employees are not supported very well, lack Div manager support, lack of education and training not budgetted. Returning employees are left to fend forthemselves, not much job assistance mostly lip service oand very little follow through.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take better care of your people, stop the brain drain, eliminate the Officer club for holding a management position. There are losts of talented leaders that are not prior military officers.

    I worked at SAIC

    Pros

Flexible schedule allowed me to work extra to make up time, or take off every other Friday. Competent management protected employees from customer when needed

    Cons

Strict pay scale when working in government contract, severely limits pay and employee could find more competitive compensation with other companies that do not support government customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do your research and be more competitive with wages. Having jobs on government pay scale hamstrings your ability to retain truly skilled employees.

    I worked at SAIC

    Pros

Compensation - salary was quite reasonable for what I was asked to do.
Location - San Diego & a fairly nice office
Flavia machine - ok, trying to be positive here.

    Cons

Poor quality management - there are of course a few exceptions i can attest to, however in general, management tends to be disconnected, non-communicative and generally not held accountable.

Automaton culture: there is very little substantive investment in developing staff capabilities, couple this with a chronic lack of creative problem solving at all levels of the organization and you get this 'checkbox' mentality that could only exist in the government contractor universe. '

Cronyism - if you are someone who believes in meritocracy, work elsewhere

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actively monitor management & prune the dead-leaves off.

Treat your staff like the assets they are/could be. Develop paths for individuals to be able to build experience and capabilities.

Conduct business ethically - you will continue to have scandals if ethics are nothing more than annual 'web based training' & oversight is nothing more than lip service.
