I have been working at SAIC

Pros

Flexible work environment, and a little less cutthroat than the private sector.

Cons

a lot of incompetent employees that float by because of high security clearances.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

quit tossing developers aside when projects are put on hold, only to have to retrain someone the next month when it starts again.

I have been working at SAIC

    Pros

The benifits are okay, but some of the management skillset is not great. Some of management is good but some are lacking heavily.

    Cons

It is a consulting firm and seems that they are always talking layoffs or losing contracts. They should improve on what they do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the employees. Upper management should listen to the lower levels not the management right under them. They tend to make it sound better than it really is.

I have been working at SAIC

    Pros

Management is hands-off and allows for self-direction
    5 weeks vacation!
Incentives for completing certifications and degrees
Wide variety of projects and tasks

    Cons

Very uneven performance reviews showing obvious favoritism
Lots of deadwood middle management and program managers
Revolving door between company and government employees
Large numbers of former military commanders trying to run the place like a military command
Very little opportunity for women to lead or move up

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We used to own the place - show us some respect
The whole world does not revolve around Washington D.C.
Time to begin diversifying; get all of our eggs out of the DoD basket
