I worked at SCI Consulting

Pros

The CEO was very employee oriented until some business was lost. (However, that is the nature of government contractors.)
Some of the employees were very easy to work with and helped each other.
The accounting department was very competent.

Cons

Upper management really really didn't know how to properly manage and business practice inefficiencies resulted.
The top management got involved into minutia and lost the big picture and focus.

I have been working at SCI Consulting full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

SCI takes care of its employees and works hard to support their needs. Pays them well and provides excellent benefits. While the leadership is demanding, they treat people fairly and try to get them the support they need to succeed. If you work hard and are a team player, you can grow and build trust from the CEO, but that doesn't happen overnight.

    Cons

Sometimes they keep non-performers too long which adversely affects the ability of well performing employees to get the job done. Too much work to do and not enough people to help do it, but all companies are faced with this problem in these challenging economic times and especially in government contracting. Environment can be stressful if you're not used to working with people who are blunt and/or direct.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire experienced managers who are committed to seeing the company's goals accomplished; be more trusting of the people who work for you; offer employee profit sharing program to make every employee an owner of results.

    Pros

Benefits and Salary are good, company employees (besides upper management) are top notch, employees working in the field are sheltered from the issues of HQ

    Cons

CEO management style is abusive to employees, company has a very tactiacl outlook on business, very hard place to build a career, only consider job if this is your only opportunity, typical length of stay @HQ is 6 months

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow management team to have more control of the companies daily activities, CEO should step away from the company, value your employees working at HQ
