I have been working at SDL full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Known name in the localization industry, offices worldwide

    Cons

Too many and fast acquisitions have left the company very fragmented thus quite disorganized

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better communication across the company, truly integrate the company to feel as one, not silos as the office climate feels like now

    I worked at SDL

    Pros

Local management very good about work/life balance.
Local management proud of our office's accomplishments and gave good feedback on individual projects.
Smart colleagues, always an opportunity to learn from them.

    Cons

I worked with a great group of people under a very good manager, but upper management seemed not to care about us. The CEO (at that time) never visited our office, even when he was traveling through our area--in the 5+ years I worked there, I never met him. It was as if he couldn't be bothered to take time to meet people who worked hard to produce a good product--we were beneath him.
The company is tragically stingy; I can count on one hand the number of times the company ever bought us lunch or did something to recognize our efforts.
We were not allowed any program on our computer unless it was approved by IT--couldn't use Chrome, couldn't upgrade browser, etc. Everything had to be sanctioned.
Weren't allowed to work from home; I really got the feeling that the company didn't trust us.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget the "little people" who toil for you. Do something nice for your employees in the States once in a while.

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO
