    Interesting projects and technologies
    On the whole, nice people to work with in the department

    Little or no training - but you are held accountable for not knowing something
    Abusive management - denigrates employees, particularly behind their backs
    CEO treats most employees as disposable worker bees
    Long hours, no recognition, zero - yes ZERO - chance of promotion

    Clearly the leadership of SDL is doing what the owners and shareholders want. Until there is a major problem, then the high employee turnover rate, inadequate training and abusive management will come back to bite you.

    Localization / Globalization is a vital growing industry.
    SDL is tops in localization and owns a few of the prime tools for use in the industry: e.g. TRADOS.
    Learn the localization industry and tools.
    Vacation increases to 3 weeks after the 2nd year.
    Interesting colleagues.


    Almost all employees are underpaid and overworked.
    Expectations are not clearly defined.
    Rapid employee turnover.
    Lack of training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Mark J. Lancaster does not acknowledge or greet a person in the hallway who is not in senior management, which is relatively few since the office has fewer than 50 people. Maybe that's how it's done in the UK, but not normally in the US. Show your employees a little respect. Do not swear at them and belittle them. Give raises for superior performance rather than waiting until employees have found a new position in another company to offer them more.
