I worked at SNC-Lavalin OM full-time (less than an year)

Pros

Progressive company with good Health and Safety policies. Solid formal proceedures and significant support from other areas of the business as well as from the staff in the local office in Qatar.

Cons

As with many companies in the Gulf regions the international stong values often get lost when trying to "satisfy" local clients. This is often at the expense of employees or company values.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to maintain the excellent standards of SNC Canada these values you to be maintained in your remote offices. This includes HR issues and support.

I have been working at SNC-Lavalin OM

    Pros

Medium to large company; variety of technologies to learn and support; good teammates; opportunities for advancement

    Cons

Disrespectful and bullying IT management which treats employees like robots / soldiers, and not like human beings.
Overtime work is constant and not paid; lack of planning, which led to constant fire-fighting and toxic environment. IT management tends to fire employees due to personal issues rather than recognize the skills, qualifications and abilities objectively. IT management causes a huge amount of stress to subordinates. People are leaving the company or going to stress leave. Lack of proper training to support the growing list of new technologies and tools.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find another job. Managing people is not suited for you. You are harming the employees' careers and personal life.
