I have been working at SNC-Lavalin full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

- the company is culturally diverse
- lots of exposure to in-depth technical engineering
- lots of opportunity for career advancement, both vertically and laterally

Cons

- work is project based, so turnover rates can be high at times. Be prepared for a bumpy ride.
- not enough team building and social events

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- being an international company we must continually evolve to make ourselves more competitive so as to win better jobs around the globe
- conduct better risk reviews early on in the project / proposal phases

I have been working at SNC-Lavalin as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

the accomadations are top notch and the people you work with are all amazing and from different countries.

    Cons

They treat their guest services staff as though they were in prison, demanding every minute you are there to be running whether your sick, they dont care they want the job done but wont hire the staff needed to do the job. they preach every tool box meeting about safety to cover themselves, yet you are lucky to be able to stop for a drink or go to the bathroom. I am a hard worker and dont mind working but this is insane what they are getting away with. When i asked about speaking up to the manager i was told not to because I would be fired. All i see is alot of scared workers. Supposedly these workers r going to get a union it cant get here soon enough.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your staff are equal to you, and want to do good for the company but you can not continue to burn them out and put the fear of losing their job into them so they dont report injuries or approach you with ideas that will make their jobs easier.
