I have been working at SRA International full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Highly ethical management with solid reputation (historically) and generally a very healthy respect for work/life balance; career advancement for individuals getting involved at tough projects and customer sites; will not burn bridges with customers and partners, and seemingly has an open door policy where anyone can leave and go to any competitor at any time.

Cons

Over-emphasis on projects vs domain areas, making it tough to recruit and retain top talent; many long time veterans there are either leaving because it has changed, or should have been fired but cling as a result of politics.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Place a greater emphasis on career paths and internal mobility.

    Pros

This company is a good place for someone who is a fresh face in the working world.

    Cons

No technical trainings except for pseudo trainings such as CBT and peer to peer classes, there is no policy on career development training. Managers doled out training to their inner circle like a favor and conducted it in a very secret manner. When request was made regarding training, my manager always had diplomatic answers but the final one was always no with many excuses. This company always bragging about how they will help employees transfer to a new position when their assignment ends, not any more, the moment they realize they cannot make money out of you they want you to leave as soon as possible, they will offer you severance package depends on your tenure with the company, your bench time will be as long as the client is willing to extend your services.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be proactive in helping employees reach their potential and do share information when it comes to work. Stop bragging about being the number one ethical company because you are not, work on it instead.

    Pros

Friendly work place and good learning and knowledge sharing company. The management style is fair and friendly. It provides good supports if you are pursuing your IT certifications.

    Cons

The downsides are the same for all government contracting companies. You will loss the job if the company loses the re-cpmpete.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I like the management style at SRA International. So keep doing what you are doing.
