SRA International – “I'm happy with the company, but it seems hard to work your way up unless you are a member of the good old boys club.”
Pros
It largely depends upon your client if you work offsite. The company has excellent benefits and opportunities if you are able to identify them and promote yourself. It's a find your own way kind of company.
Cons
It still has the feel of an old boy's club. When you work at a client site it's very hard to make a name for yourself within the company. If the client likes you, it's in your project manager's best interest to keep you on his team and not help advance your career.
Advice to Senior Management
New employees need more than a 1 day training. A project manager should have some involvement in training for the project. I was given my one day orientation and pretty much left in an office with a few manuals to read. When I got to the client site I didn't even know some of the basics about my client, I definitely assume some of the fault, but wish I had some time with my PM for training.
