SRA International – “Do it for love, not the money!”
1 of 1 people found this helpfulPros
When compared to other firms in the areas of IT and defense, SRA International exudes professionalism. Because of this professionalism, the clients that SRA work with are easy to deal with and are generally understanding because SRA gives them what they expect, which in turn, makes your life easier.
The folks are very nice and open, for the most part. They understand that you are new and don't hold minor errors against you.
Cons
If you are willing to join the "club" (every SRA sector has one or five) and have the ability to "kiss" the right people without shame, you will progress in this company. Generally, quality work alone will not get you very high in the firm.
You have to master the art of taking you boss out to lunch to really see the light of day. If you fail in this task, there will be times that you will not see or hear from your leadership until something goes wrong and if something goes wrong, you better have a solution.
Advice to Senior Management
As with everything, you must pay for quality. When I started with the firm, the quality of work was the most important thing. Now, the goal of the firm is to pay as little as possible in salary and charge $100 per hour for their talent. There is no reason that SRA should be stifling the progress of gifted consultants! You know that we are valuable and since we are the reason that SRA makes a dime, why not show a bit of appreciation.
