I have been working at SRA International full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

- Management seems to care and resolve any issues or concerns that you may have
- Salary is competitive
- Company does a good job keeping you informed with future direction and development
- Life / Work balance is promoted and there are clubs and groups that you can get involved with
- Great promotion potential

Cons

-Actual work environment reflects the client site's ethic for those on contracts
- Client and bottom line trump employee wants or concerns
- Off-Site Vendor training is nearly impossible to get if client is not willing to foot the bill and hours
- Billable hours are all that matters for off site employees

Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Pay for your employees to train on the latest and greatest regardless of whether you can bill the client for the lost time or not!

    Pros

    Vast majority of employees believe in, and fulfill expectation to be honest and ethical business women and men
    Customer-facing teams are bright and talented

    Cons

    Short-sighted focus on winning business over contract execution
    Poor strategic, corporate communications with mid- and front line management and employees
    No evidence Chief executive suite leaders are interested in attracting and retaining top talent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Ensure that contract execution/project team and leaders are rewarded for excellence. Currently, the compensation/benefits model has been to eliminate funds for the vast majority of the employees that carry out SRA's client facing work. Instead all the focus is rewarding the business capture/proposal writers/managers.

    Lamenting about how are benefits cuts are on CEO, GC, COO, etc. is, and comes off as disingenuous. Yes, the industry is contracting right now, and everyone is going to take a hit. But suggesting that losing 5 days vacation is hard on highest executives too, when you earn a 7 figure+ salary isn't equally hard on the administrative assistant that earns $60K and has been with the company for 12 years.

    Not enough support to seek other positions within the company for employees whose current contracts have ended.

    Be more proactive in attempting to retrain/reposition employees for other positions within the company.
